Genre films just keep getting better and better in 2017.
Visionary writer/director Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night) is back on June 23rd with The Bad Batch, a film that already won me over when the teaser trailer hit back in February. Brad mentioned that Amirpour’s latest was “at the top of our must-see list for 2017” at the time – now that the official trailer has arrived, I fully and completely agree.
There’s so much cool stuff going on in this trailer that I’m not even sure where to start. It looks like Amirpour has created a highly unique post-apocalyptic wasteland with this one, filled out with colorful characters that include a one-armed, one-legged gunslinger that I already want an action figure of. And then Jason Momoa and Keanu Reeves show up, both with badass mustaches.
Was this movie made for me?! It must have been! Check out the new trailer below.
The incredible cast includes Keanu Reeves, Suki Waterhouse, Jason Momoa, Giovanni Ribisi, Yolonda Ross, Jayda Fink, Cory Roberts, Louie Lopez, and even Jim Carrey.
Arlen (Waterhouse) as she is unceremoniously dumped in a Texas wasteland fenced off from civilized society. While trying to orient her unforgiving environment, she is captured by a savage band of cannibals and quickly realizes she’ll have to fight her way through her new reality. As Arlen adjusts to life in ‘the bad batch’ she discovers that being good or bad mostly depends on who you’re standing next to.
