A grindhouse-themed series was the last thing on my list of things I wanted to see on television, yet last week’s massive batch of promos for Syfy’s “Blood Drive” got my juices flowing.
Set to premiere on June 14th, Bloody Disgusting now has the first full trailer for the series that promises non-stop action littered with sex and violence. “After Los Angeles’ last good cop (Alan Ritchson) is forced to join a twisted cross-country death race, his only hope of survival is a dangerous femme fatale who has the need for speed (Christina Ochoa). Oh, and forget gasoline… these cars run on human blood!” The gore hits level 10 when people are shoved into these monster engines to fuel their beasts of a ride. And as we showed you last week, there’s a ton of crazy shit that lurks in this post-apocalyptic wasteland.
The series is from Universal Cable Productions and executive producers John Hlavin (Underworld Awakening), David Straiton (“Bates Motel”) and Frederik Malmberg (Let Me In), along with producer Mark Wheeler (Becoming). James Roland (“Weeds”) created the project and is a co-executive producer on the series.
