“Heroes” star Milo Ventimiglia (The Divide) and Amanda Schull of SyFy’s “12 Monkeys” will be seen in the suspense thriller Devil’s Gate, which had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this month. News out of Cannes is that IFC Midnight has acquired it for release here in the States later this year. In the meantime, Premiere Entertainment Group is taking the film to the Cannes market under a variant title, Abduction, which is an interesting double entendre.
The indie marks the directorial debut of commercial director and Dawn of the Dead‘s second unit director Clay Staub, who also wrote the story and screenplay for the film along with Peter Aperlo.
The film is set in a small town where an FBI Agent, played by Schull, comes to investigate the missing wife and son of a local rancher, played by Ventimiglia.
Devil’s Gate also stars X-Men actor Shawn Ashmore as the local deputy forced to collaborate with the outside investigator in his town, and “Jane the Virgin’s” Bridget Regan as the missing wife that sets the mystery into action. Jonathan Frakes will play a sheriff who is uncomfortable with the interference of the FBI in his town.
