While some feel that the 1990 adaptation of Stephen King’s IT was a masterpiece of made-for-TV horrors, others feel that it just doesn’t hold up and maybe was never even that good in the first place. But both sides seem to at least agree that the final battle with the giant spider, well, it left a whole lot to be desired.
Even the biggest fans of the mini-series have long bashed its finale; as it turns out, even star Tim Curry doesn’t look back so fondly on the final battle with Pennywise.
Speaking with Screen Geek, Curry had this to say about the new IT movie…
“I hope they make the ending better because on [the TV version], I turned into some kind of giant spider and it was not very scary.”
From what we’ve heard, there will be no giant spider in Andy Muschietti’s IT.
In the same chat, Curry praised Bill Skarsgård as an actor…
“Well, I like [Bill] Skarsgard very much, I think he’s very clever. It’ll be interesting what sort of clown face he puts on, because it’s not an obvious clown face at all. I’ve seen the trailer and you can’t really see him at all. So I’m fascinated to see it. He’s very good.”
Pennywise returns to the big screen this weekend, September 8.
