First there was Guillermo del Toro tequila. Now, Blade Runner whiskey!
You may remember that Rick Deckard sipped Johnnie Walker Black Label whiskey from a futuristic bottle (and a futuristic glass) in the original Blade Runner, and it looks like that bottle will also be making an appearance in next month’s sequel, Blade Runner 2049.
As a fun tie-in, Johnnie Walker has whipped up replicas of those futuristic bottles for Black Label: The Director’s Cut, a 49% ABV tribute to the Blade Runner films!
“Thirty five years on from being the spirit of choice in cult sci-fi classic Blade Runner, Johnnie Walker Black Label returns to the big screen in its highly-anticipated sequel Blade Runner 2049. Johnnie Walker Black Label The Director’s Cut is a new Scotch Whisky created by Master Blender Jim Beveridge in collaboration with visionary filmmaker Denis Villeneuve. The limited edition blend is inspired by Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049, and is presented in a futuristic bottle.
With our trademark smokiness and a contemporary twist, Johnnie Walker Black Label The Director’s Cut has sweet fruity vanilla flavours and is bottled at 49% ABV both for added intensity and as a nod to the futuristic period in which the film is set.”
Johnnie Walker Black Label The Director’s Cut is now available globally, at select liquor stores. Only 39,000 bottles have been made, selling for $89.99 each.
