It’s not enough that we got the announcement of the PlayStation Classic today, it also seems like a cherished game from that console could be heading to PS4 in some capacity.
The Korean Games Ratings Board has let slip the existence of something called Castlevania: Requiem for PS4. This is seemingly a collection of classic Castlevania titles that includes the fan favorite Symphony of the Night and SNES entry Rondo of Blood.
The rating notes an English Language release, so it will be coming to the West. This is as good as confirmation that the collection exists as it needs to be submitted to the ratings board for it to show up. It also means it could be on the way before the end of the year. Perhaps it will tie in with the release of the second season of the Castlevania Netflix anime series on October 26?
There’s no clue as to whether this is a straight port job or a nice shiny remaster yet. The latter seems likely though.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night has a Metacritic score of 93 and to this day stands out as a landmark entry into the long-running saga of Belmonts and Vampires.
Konami has been rather quiet when it comes to new entries for many of its big franchises, with Castlevania and Silent Hill both on ice currently. Hopefully, this is the Japanese publisher testing the water for interest in the series, even if it only gets us a remaster of the rather bloody good Castlevania: Lords of Shadow down the road (please?).
