Some sad news today, as we’ve learned that Jan-Michael Vincent has passed away at the age of 74. As reported by TMZ, the ’80s heartthrob “died back on February 10 after suffering cardiac arrest while a patient at a North Carolina hospital,” the news only made public today.
Jan-Michael Vincent was most known for playing Stringfellow Hawke in the ’80s TV series “Airwolf,” and he had made a few stops in the sci-fi/horror genres with films such as Damnation Alley, The Return, Alienator, Xtro II: The Second Encounter, and one of my personal favorite ’90s gems, the Clint Howard-starring Ice Cream Man.
The two-time Golden Globe-nominated actor also notably starred in the films Going Home, The Mechanic, White Line Fever, Big Wednesday and Buffalo 66.
Well documented, Jan-Michael Vincent’s life and career had been plagued by various personal demons. Most recently, a health scare in 2012 led to the amputation of his right leg.
