Fangoria Signs Up for Dr. Rebekah McKendry’s “Nightmare University” Podcast

In March of this year, FANGORIA launched its premiere podcast network with Episode 50 of the popular Mick Garris-hosted podcast “Post Mortem”. The network continues to fill out its programming, introducing its first slate of in-house series, and the original show “Nightmare University”, hosted by Dr. Rebekah McKendry of the Blumhouse horror podcast Shockwaves, Bloody Disgusting can exclusively report.

Every other week join horror genre professor Dr. Rebekah McKendry alongside a notable genre industry expert as they take a deep look into a specific element of the horror genre. Each 30-45 minute show feel will feel like a lively university class discussing horror history, key players, and important films. This is not an interview show. This is pure horror education.

“Nightmare University” kicks off its ten-episode first season this Thursday, May 2nd, with a look into Aquatic Horrors. Rebekah and her guests Stephen Scarlata and Josh Miller deep dive into aquatic horrors such as Leviathan, The Abyss, Deepstar Six, and more. New episodes will follow every other Thursday. As an added bonus, McKendry will be releasing weekly mini-episodes in which she discusses specific moments in FANGORIA history from her 15-year tenure with the horror entertainment company. “FANGORIA’s Office Hours” will be released every Tuesday beginning May 7th. McKendry will share inside stories about famous cover art, collaborating with horror legends, and more. This is the “Behind The Music’ horror fans have been waiting for.

Also on the docket for the FANGORIA Podcast Network are a slate of in-house series hosted by the “Vanguard of the Vault” Natasha Pascetta. “Lifecast” is a podcast that explores unique perspectives on special effects in film. Natasha interviews SFX artists, directors, actors and more with the goal of unearthing special-effects-related behind the scenes stories that have rarely been heard. Listeners can expect to hear fan favorites like Barbara Crampton, Alec Gillis, Lloyd Kaufman, and so many more. “Class of ’79” is podcast that celebrates movies turning 40 this year and “Class of ’89” is podcast that celebrates movies turning 30 this year. Host Natasha interviews the creators and contributors of our favorite movies from 1979 & 1989. The first episode of “Class of ’89” hits your podcast feed with on Tuesday, May 7th, with the first of three episodes on the 1989 Stephen King-adapted Mary Lambert-directed classic Pet Sematary. Lastly, “Paper Cuts” is a podcast that features the writers, editors, art director, and publisher of FANGORIA magazine. This podcast is focused on the mechanics of making each issue come to life.
