The Broadway run of Beetlejuice: The Musical (read our review) officially kicked off back in April at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City, and we’ve unfortunately learned today (via Deadline) that the Tony-nominated musical, of course based on Tim Burton’s same-titled film, will be playing its final performance on Broadway on June 6, 2020.
Beetlejuice has been a massive hit for the Winter Garden Theatre, breaking a new box office record during Thanksgiving week ($1.6 million), but it’s being unexpectedly ousted from the theater to make room for next fall’s Hugh Jackman-starring The Music Man. The good news? Deadline notes, “A national tour is being mounted to kick off in fall 2021.”

Directed by Alex Timbers, with a score by Eddie Perfect, book by Scott Brown & Anthony King and choreography by Connor Gallagher, the musical stars Alex Brightman as Beetlejuice and Sophia Anne Caruso as Lydia Deetz.
Beetlejuice: The Musical tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange teenager obsessed with the whole “being dead thing.”
When Lydia calls on a degenerate demon to scare away her insufferable parents, Beetlejuice comes up with a plan involving exorcism, arranged marriages and an adorable girl scout who gets scared out of her wits.
