‘Kill Bill’: Quentin Tarantino Has “Conquered the Concept” for Third Volume
It’s been 15 years since Uma Thurman‘s The Bride/Beatrix Kiddo/Black Mamba got her revenge in Kill Bill, but there’s still a third story to be told.
Four years ago, Tarantino revealed his aspirations for another Kill Bill, explaining that he’s always felt that Uma Thurman’s character, Beatrix, deserved a break from the hell she’s been put through.
“There’s definitely a possibility — stop short of saying a probability,” Tarantino had told What The Flick?! in 2015. “I put the character of Beatrix Kiddo through a lot, and so I wanted her to have this much time for peace. I wanted her to have some time with her daughter and not have to be in the genre machine.
“She can actually enjoy her life for awhile,” he added before confirming that it would take place during a modern time period.
In a more recent interview that was shared several months ago, Tarantino stated that he recently chatted with Thurman about the possibilities of another film.
“Me and Uma have talked about it recently, frankly, to tell you the truth,” Tarantino revealed. “I have thought about it a little further. We were talking about it literally last week. If any of my movies were going to spring from my other movies, it would be a third Kill Bill.”
Now, on the heels of his promotional tour for Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood, Tarantino tells listeners of the Andy Cohen’s radio show that he’s all but cracked the story and given the third film purpose.
“I do have an idea of what I would do with it. That was the whole thing was conquering that concept, exactly what’s happened to the Bride and what do I want to do,” Tarantino explained.
“Because I wouldn’t just want to come up with some cockamamie adventure. She doesn’t deserve that. The Bride has fought long and hard. But now I have an idea. I still wouldn’t do it for a little bit.”
He went on to say it would be at least three years before he revisits Kill Bill, but reassured fans that “it is definitely in the cards.”
