Coming out of nowhere, and just in time for the series’ 35th anniversary, Nintendo has unveiled Metroid Dread, the first original 2D-based Metroid game in 19 years. The fifth mainline Metroid game after Metroid Fusion, Metroid Dread will launch on October 8 worldwide.
Dread sees Samus arriving on planet ZDR to investigate a mysterious transmission sent to the Galactic Federation. Once there, Samus is beset by DNA-extracting research machines known as E.M.M.I.. You’ll have to continually evade death at the hands of these machines, discover just what happened on the planet, and escape.
