Fantastic Fest Scream, Queen! Review

Mark Patton, who of course starred as Jesse Walsh in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge and more recently told his life story in the documentary Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street, is currently in the hospital amidst a health scare, Bloody Disgusting has learned, with an official Go Fund Me underway to help get him the treatment he needs.

Patton’s manager Peter Valderrama explains, “[Mark] has been ill for quite some time now- originally it was thought to be aftershocks of covid and some hefty infections that could potentially be tackled with care and rest. But now it is quite clearly AIDS related ailments that he is managing.”

Valderrama continues, “Mark is currently in a Mexican hospital where they speak very little English- and they are completely overcome with covid cases there. He needs to be transported to an American hospital down there where he can be receive more specialized care in a safer setting. For this, we humbly need to ask for help.”

Patton writes in his own words, “I just want to be healthy and at home with family. I need to move to American Hospital in Mexico where they can give me the treatment I desperately need. The American Hospital is $300 dollars a day with nurses, doctors and meds. The Mexican hospital are overwhelmed with Covid and I am too compromised to remain here.

“I have faced these medical challenges before and I know I have a lot of fight left in me- but the last few years have been crippling for me financially. I have always lived month to month and I have been struggling with medical visits since October. If anyone is able to contribute it would mean a life saving option for me to be recovering in a place that can cater to my condition.”

Writer-director Francis Galluppi will soon face off Kandarian demons by helming the next Evil Dead film. This week sees the release of his star-studded feature debut, The Last Stop in Yuma County. An original Western thriller in the vein of early Coen Brothers, the film arrives this Friday, May 10 from Well Go USA in select theaters and VOD.

In anticipation, Bloody Disgusting has an exclusive clip featuring stars Jocelin Donahue and Barbara Crampton. Watch below and find the trailer and poster art underneath.

Here’s the story: “While awaiting the next fuel truck at a middle-of-nowhere Arizona rest stop, a traveling young knife salesman is thrust into a high-stakes hostage situation by the arrival of two similarly stranded bank robbers with no qualms about using cruelty—or cold, hard steel—to protect their bloodstained, ill-begotten fortune.”

Joining Donahue and Crampton is a who’s who of horror favorites: Jim Cummings, Richard Brake, Faizon Love,  Alex Essoe, Michael Abbott Jr., Sierra McCormick, Nicholas Logan, Sam Huntington, Connor Paolo, Robin Bartlett, Jon Proudstar, Ryan Masson, and Gene Jones.

In her glowing review, our head critic Meagan Navarro says The Last Stop in Yuma County is “bustling with life and boisterous personalities, reflective on screen in every facet.” She adds, “Galluppi makes it so effortlessly easy to get sucked into this slick, singular world and invest in its characters, only for the filmmaker to revel in dispatching them.”
