The children are not okay in Netflix’s upcoming psychological horror movie Run Rabbit Run, starring Sarah Snook (“Succession”).

The streaming service debuted a new trailer for the Australian horror thriller, giving a peek at the psychological unraveling of a mom and her daughter. Check it out below.

In Run Rabbit Run, “Snook plays a fertility doctor who believes firmly in life and death, but after noticing the strange behaviour of her young daughter, must challenge her own values and confront a ghost from her past.”

Daina Reid  (“Shining Girls,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “The Outsider”)directed the film, written by Hannah Kent (The Good People, Devotion). Run Rabbit Run also stars Lily LaTorreDamon Herriman (House of WaxThe NightingaleOnce Upon a Time in Hollywood), and Greta Scacchi (Darby & JoanShepherd).

Before her breakout performance in HBO’s smash hit “Succession,” set to make its final bow later this month, star Sarah Snook appeared in a handful of horror films, from Saw VI director Kevin Grueter’s Jessabelle to Predestination and Winchester

Our own Trace Thurman reviewed Run Rabbit Run out of Sundance. In his review, he drew comparisons to Australian horror hit The Babadook and cited Snook’s performance as a highlight. Thurman wrote, “The film offers a solid performance from Snook, who does what she can with some admittedly slim material. Parent viewers might be more empathetic toward Sarah’s plight, but others will find themselves frustrated with nearly every decision Sarah makes whenever Mia acts out. Snook isn’t given much to work with other than to act frantically at every little red flag that Mia’s behavior raises, but she gives a nuanced enough performance to override some of the script’s failures.”

Producers are Sarah Shaw and Anna McLeish (Relic, Partisan, Snowtown). EPs are Nate Bolotin, Maxime Cottray, Nick Spicer, and Aram Tertzakian of XYZ Films, Deanne Weir, Olivia Humphrey, Jack Christian, D.J. McPherson, Daina Reid, Sarah Snook, Jake Carter, and Katie Anderson.

Run Rabbit Run premieres on Netflix on June 28, 2023.

Horror journalist, RT Top Critic, and Critics Choice Association member. Has appeared on PBS series' Monstrum, served on the SXSW Midnighter shorts jury, and moderated horror panels for WonderCon, SeriesFest, and Popcorn Frights Film Fest.

Jason Universe Team Teases “A Thrilling Lineup of New Projects”

Published

We have the Jason Universe to thank for the recent return of Jason Voorhees, with the short film Sweet Revenge and Jason’s arrival in Dead by Daylight helping to bring the hockey mask-wearing horror icon back into our lives. What else is planned, you ask?

In a chat with Variety this week, Jason Universe’s Robbie Barsamian teases that everything we’ve seen up to this point is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Jason’s return.

“We’ve been busy behind the scenes laying the foundation that everyone is finally starting to see come to life, but this is just the tip of the iceberg,” Barsamian teases.

“We have a thrilling lineup of new projects that we can’t wait to share more details on soon.”

Barsamian also notes during the chat with Variety, “We want to give fans fresh takes on what they love most about Jason and continue to expand his world in authentic ways that resonate with horror fans today.” One of those expansions will take the form of the upcoming Peacock and A24 series “Crystal Lake,” which stars Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees.

“The Crystal Lake TV series will take fans back in time to tell the story of how Pamela Voorhees came to be the mother of all slashers,” Barsamian tells Variety this week.

“Crystal Lake” premieres October 15 on Peacock.

Callum Vinson (“Chucky”) is playing young Jason in “Crystal Lake,” which will tell the origin story of the masked slasher who has stalked the grounds of Crystal Lake for decades.

Last year, the Jason Universe team had teased that a new movie and a new video game are top priorities for the near future. But at this time we have no updates on either front.

Stay tuned for more from the Jason Universe.
