The Movie Crypt Hosts Joe Lynch and Adam Green Are Back For Ninth Annual “Yorkiethon”

Published

on

For the ninth year in a row, The Movie Crypt Podcast and hosts Joe Lynch (Suitable Flesh, “Tales from the Void”) and Adam Green (Hatchet, Frozen) are back for another 48-hour live “Yorkiethon” broadcast to benefit Save A Yorkie Rescue.

“Yorkiethon 9” will take place July 25– 27, 2025

The annual weekend-long variety show hosted by Green, Lynch, and Arwen the Yorkie will feature dozens of celebrity artists and special guests performing live comedy, live music, live film commentaries, live script readings, live interviews, and more. In addition to the non-stop live entertainment, “Yorkiethon 9” will once again offer Arwen’s Silent Auction, where fans can bid on donated items ranging from autographed movie memorabilia, screen used wardrobe, and rare vinyl box sets to toys, games, and dates with the three hosts.

Expect plenty of special guests, but you’ll have to tune in to discover the surprises.

Need even more reasons to tune in? This year’s annual live script reading will be of Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton’s never-produced Halloween Returns, which was almost made in 2015. The live reading will be performed by a group of actors under the direction of filmmaker Dave Parker (The Hills Run Red)  on Saturday, July 26th at 4 pm PST / 7 pm EST.

“Our annual “Yorkiethon” is the most important thing that we do with our platform each year,” says co-host Adam Green. “Not only do we help save a ton of dogs every year, but we help bring our beloved Hollywood community together to remind fans that there is still good in this crazy world.”

“Programming a full weekend of guests and staying on the air live is no easy feat,” says co-host Joe Lynch. “But every donation that we see come in is like an adrenaline shot of joy that keeps us more caffeinated than the gallons of coffee that we consume during the event each year.”

“Our yearly costs with Save A Yorkie Rescue exceeds $100,000.00 just on medical expenses, says Cathy Wehrman, Foster Coordinator for Save A Yorkie Rescue. “Without the funds raised through ‘Yorkiethon,’ we would be unable to save some of the dogs that we currently accept. To date, the Movie Crypt’s annual “Yorkiethon has raised about $300,000.00 for the non-profit, volunteer dog Rescue that specializes in rescuing abandoned and abused Yorkshire Terriers.

The live stream for “Yorkiethon 9 will be available to watch FREE on ArieScope.com, where links will be provided to either donate money or bid on items in Arwen’s Silent Auction, with all proceeds going to Save A Yorkie Rescue.

In the meantime, check out the event’s poster by artist Joshua Werner.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
