Bloody Disgusting is partnering with the Movie Crypt Podcast for the ninth annual 48-hour live “Yorkiethon” broadcast to benefit Save A Yorkie Rescue, and we want you to join us!

“Yorkiethon 9” will take place July 25– 27, 2025

The annual weekend-long variety show hosted by Movie Crypt hosts Adam Green (HatchetFrozen), Joe Lynch (Suitable Flesh, “Tales from the Void”), and Arwen the Yorkie will feature about 50 celebrity artists and special guests performing live comedy, live music, live film commentaries, live script readings, live interviews, and more.

In addition to the non-stop live entertainment, “Yorkiethon 9” will once again offer Arwen’s Silent Auction, where fans can bid on donated items ranging from autographed movie memorabilia, screen-used wardrobe, and rare vinyl box sets to toys, games, and dates with the three hosts.

Every penny raised goes directly to Save A Yorkie Rescue.

While Yorkiethon is always FREE to watch and enjoy on ArieScope.com, this year, The Movie Crypt has teamed up with Bloody Disgusting, who will be sponsoring and simulcasting the weekend-long marathon right here on Bloody-Disgusting.com. That’s right; you have TWO ways to tune in and join the fun.

“Every time we do this charity event we’re all reminded just how big the horror community’s heart actually is,” says co-host Joe Lynch. “We’re thrilled to have our friends at Bloody Disgusting joining in with us this year to help save as many dogs as we can.”

“Bloody Disgusting may be known as the home of the Terrifier sequels, but this year we’re all about those cute and cuddly Terriers, Bloody Disgusting co-managing directors John Squires and Meagan Navarro said. “We’ve been watching along with the Yorkiethon for the last several years, and we wanted to get more involved. As animal lovers ourselves, Bloody Disgusting is proud to team up with The Movie Crypt and help spotlight a fantastic rescue and great cause. We’re thrilled to be sponsoring and co-streaming the ninth annual event, and we encourage our readers to donate and help save the lives of Yorkies alongside our team!

Our annual ‘Yorkiethon is the most important thing that we do with our platform each year, says co-host Adam Green. “Not only has the event helped save a ton of dogs over the years, it always reminds us how much good our community can do when we all work together.”

While you’ll have to watch to discover the amazing guest lineup, this year’s annual live script reading will be of Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton’s never-produced Halloween Returns, which was almost made in 2015. The live reading will be performed by a group of actors under the direction of filmmaker Dave Parker (The Hills Run Red) on Saturday, July 26th at 4 pm PST / 7 pm EST.

To reiterate: The live stream for “Yorkiethon 9 “will be available to watch FREE on Bloody-Disgusting.com AND ArieScope.com, where links will be provided to either donate money or bid on items in Arwen’s Silent Auction, with all proceeds going to Save A Yorkie Rescue.

When should you tune in? Show hours are Friday (7/25) 5pm PST – 10pm PST, Saturday (7/26) 9am PST – 8pm PST, and Sunday (7/27) 9am PST – 5pm PST.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
