The Horror Queers have spent the last several weeks checking out foreign horror films from France (controversial New French Extremity entry, Calvaire), Canada (Cronenberg classic, The Brood, in honour of its 40th anniversary) and, last week, a German/Canadian co-production (Bruce LaBruce’s controversial gay zombie porno, Otto; Or Up With Dead People).
This week Trace and I return to France to discuss the brand new French Giallo, Knife + Heart, which was just released on VOD and Blu last week. The 70s period film is set in the Paris porn scene as a switchblade dildo wielding killer stalks adult performers working on a blue movie. Needless to say, things on the podcast get hot…and surprisingly political.

Episode 23 – Knife + Heart (2018)
Despite the ordeal they suffered last time, Joe and Trace travel back to France to catch the premiere of Homocidal, the queer porno that everyone is DYING to be in!
Although Trace confesses he’s not a huge Giallo person (and the boys fully expect to receive hate mail from fans), Yann Gonzalez’s tale of a switchblade dildo wielding, gimp-mask wearing killer and the intrepid lesbian porn director on his trail is a queer horror classic – and Trace’s pull-quote on the Blu-ray confirms it!
The boys praise the film’s gritty, lurid and beautiful 70s aesthetic, discuss the political ramifications of inherently queer horror and wade through the weird saggy middle section with the guy who has a chicken hand <shrug>
Plus: Joe and Trace make up their porn names!
Cross out Knife + Heart!
Coming up Wednesday: We kick off six weeks (!) of franchise entries with a look at the very first Final Destination film
