Bloody Disgusting is joining forces with Storm King Productions and filmmaking legend John Carpenter to develop and launch two original scripted horror podcasts under the “John Carpenter Presents” banner, we’re thrilled to announce this week. How does that good news get even better? The first series already launched over the weekend!

The first episode of “John Carpenter Presents: Something Wicked” is available NOW on all major podcast platforms, so start listening at your earliest possible convenience!

New episodes of “Something Wicked” will premiere every other Sunday.

The eight-episode scripted series, created by Read W. Ridley and produced by 12 Angry Bears, with executive producer Sandy King, follows a young historian and a seasoned detective investigating paranormal crimes in New Orleans. Inspired by real events, the series blends supernatural horror with investigative drama.

In addition to “Something Wicked,” Bloody Disgusting and Storm King Productions are in production on a second original “John Carpenter Presents” fiction podcast.

Further details will be announced soon. Stay tuned.

Storm King Productions, founded in 1991 by producer Sandy King, is a leading voice in horror storytelling across film, comics, and audio. Through its publishing arm, Storm King Comics, the company has released award-winning horror and science fiction titles for audiences ranging from early readers to mature fans, including the Dark & Twisted and Tales for a HalloweeNight series, with upcoming titles Chaplain and Cathedral, John Carpenter’s first original graphic novel.

“Storm King Productions got its start in podcasting with Roanoke Falls (2003 Signal Award Winner) and it’s a form we’ve wanted to revisit,” said Sandy King, CEO of Storm King Productions. “Read Ridley brought us a compelling story rooted in New Orleans, drawing on local talent and the genuine spooky atmosphere of bayou folklore. It’s a story that provides a grand way for our return to fiction podcasting. John and I are thrilled to partner with Cineverse to do that.”

“At Cineverse, we believe in the power of audio storytelling, and fiction podcasts. We’re incredibly excited to bring stories like Something Wicked to our listeners across the globe. This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for our podcast network, ” said Pacific Obadiah, Head of Original Programming for the Cineverse Podcast Network. “From our success with other fiction podcasts, like Dead Space: Deep Cover, and Mayfair Watchers Society, we know horror enthusiasts are looking for thrilling and authentic storytelling, which we hope to deliver!”

Shakespearean Education in the Vincent Price-Starring ‘Theater of Blood’ [Horror Queers Podcast]

Butch knows best…

After concluding May with discussions of the disaster “slasher” The Poseidon Adventure (listen) and Michael Biehn’s demon twink in the messy-but-watchable The Fan (listen), we’re heading back to the ’70s to discuss our very first Vincent Price film in Douglas Hickox‘s horror comedy Theater of Blood (1973).

In Theater of Blood, Vincent Price stars as Edward Lionheart, a disgraced Shakespearean actor who begins targeting the critics who shamed him. The gimmick? He’s taking inspiration from the death scenes in William Shakespeare’s plays! Aiding him is his daughter Edwina (Diana Rigg), who acts as the honeypot for her father’s macabre scheme.

Episode 388: Theater of Blood (1973)

Brush up on your Shakespeare and protect those poodles because we’re covering our very first Vincent Price film in Douglas Hickox’s horror comedy Theater of Blood (1973), a personal favorite of both Price and Diana Rigg.

Join us as we go all in on this somewhat episodic (but also educational!) proto-slasher, wondering if we’re supposed to know that’s Diana Rigg in hippie drag, and cackling at some of these murder set pieces.

Plus, “Handsy Dickman,” narcissistic gravestones, antisemitic stage makeup, and the ultimate debate: is it theatER or theatRE?

C/W: Attempted suicide, off-screen dog murder.
