Shit keeps getting weirder and weirder in this new issue of Rumble. And all you wanna do is read more of it. If David Lynch and Louis CK decided they’d have a baby, and then mold that baby to their strange visuals and fucked up, “real life” comedy. Then that child was sent to spend summer with crazy uncle with Grant Morrison and Neil Gaiman, later cloning the baby and naming them John Arcudi and James Harren. Then you could explain why “Rumble” #2 is so great.

Shit’s weird. Just accept it, deal with it, and keep reading. That’s the statement reaffirmed in this issue. From kittens that won’t stop eating, to a 6 headed adorable snake-like pet and its equally strange owner. Everything is just weird, and that’s just a thing in this world. It wasn’t made to be questioned, yet invites us to join that fucked up, forgotten part of the city by treating it like our daily lives and making damn good jokes about it.
Then Rathraq is there. That scarecrow that shows up and starts slicing arms? Yup. Turns out he’s been gone for a while and now he’s pissed, seeking Cogan and slicing anything you put in front of him, even my two favorite comedy demons so far. Still not sure why yet but he has taken a liking to Bobby, our main man who has no fucking clue what is happening or where the hell his pants went.
The writing is still on point. Each character delivers well-crafted comedy lines to break the mystery this whole story wraps itself around and on par with fantastic art that flows so well it is like reading something straight out of a Gorillaz album. On top of this still being a more action packed issue than last one, the story becomes more and more rich, as it opens questions that left me aching for issue #3 to drop.
John Acurdi and James Harren are killing it with “Rumble.” When people ask you, why is it good? You tell them it’s like reading a Twin Peaks episode with Louis CK comedy, while listening to Gorillaz.
