With Halloween just around the corner now is the perfect time to revisit two slasher classics, The Barn and The Barn Part II, both now streaming on SCREAMBOX as SVOD exclusives, thanks to Terror Films.

Justin M. Seaman‘s 2016 horror movie The Barn is a retro throwback horror movie that takes you back to 1989.

“The Barn is a love letter to monster movies and the campy decade where they reigned supreme, that’s as fun as it is bloody!” wrote Daniel Kurland back in 2016.

In the film…

“It’s Halloween 1989, and best friends Sam and Josh are trying to enjoy what’s left of their final Devil’s Night before graduating high school. But trouble arises when the two pals and a group of friends take a detour on their way to a rock concert, finding an old abandoned barn and awakening the evil inside. Now it’s up to Sam and Josh to find a way to protect their friends and defeat the creatures that lurk within ‘The Barn’.”

Also streaming exclusively on SCREAMBOX is the Halloween slasher sequel The Barn Part II…

“It’s been three years since Michelle (Lexi Dripps) escaped the events in Wheary Falls. However, she is still plagued with the questions of what truly happened to Sam and Josh (Mitchell Musolino and Will Stout) and the rest of her friends who disappeared on Halloween night. Now in college, Michelle and best friend, Heather (Sable Griedel) are put in charge of the annual Gamma Tau Psi haunted house. Unfortunately for Michelle, some uninvited trick-or-treaters from her past come knocking…and this time they’ve brought their friends…”

The film also stars Ari Lehman (Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th), Linnea Quigley (Night of the Demons), Joe Bob Briggs & Diana Prince aka Darcy the Mail Girl (“The Last Drive-In”), Lloyd Kaufman (The Toxic Avenger), and Doug Bradley (Pinhead from Hellraiser).

The Barn and The Barn Part II are distributed by Terror Films.

‘MaXXXine’ – Mia Goth Takes Hollywood in New Image from Ti West’s Sequel

Published

One of this summer’s most hotly anticipated new movies is A24 and Ti West’s MaXXXine, a follow-up to X and Pearl that brings Mia Goth’s title character into the 1980s.

With her past catching up to her, Maxine attempts to make it big as a superstar in Hollywood, 1985. While you wait, check out a new image below courtesy of USA Today this week.

Releasing in theaters on July 5, 2024, MaXXXine is rated “R” for…

“Strong violence, gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, language and drug use.”

If you missed the official trailer, you can watch it right here.

Mia Goth stars alongside Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito and Kevin Bacon in MaXXXine.

Here’s the official plot synopsis from A24 this week: “In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.”

Last we saw Maxine in Ti West’s X (2022), she was the sole survivor of a massacre carried out by elderly couple Howard and Pearl in the Summer of ’79. Goth of course pulled double duty as the villain Pearl in that movie, who got her own origin story in Pearl (2022). Pearl and Maxine are different characters, but they share the common goal of wanting to be stars.

Will Maxine finally make it in Hollywood? Or will the demons of her past become her ultimate downfall? With the Night Stalker roaming free, we expect MaXXXine to get wild this summer.
