NECA Releasing a Wearable ‘Friday the 13th Part 5: A New Beginning’ Mask

Jason Voorhees is a costume that is seen rather ubiquitously on Halloween. I mean, when a horror villain is so iconic, it’s kinda guaranteed that tons of people will want to portray them during the greatest of holidays. But what if you could stand out just a little bit from the crowd by changing one minor detail, something that only true horror fans would recognize?

Let me explain: In Friday the 13th Part 5: A New Beginning, audiences originally thought they were seeing the return of Jason Voorhees as he took on another load of halfway house kids, including Tommy Jarvis. However, the end of the film revealed that the killer was in fact NOT Jason and was Roy Burns, the father of Joey, one of the residents of the treatment facility. What set apart Roy from Jason was that Roy’s mask had blue stripes, not red ones. That subtle difference is what helps set apart the two and is a dead giveaway to any Friday the 13th fan.

Now NECA is releasing a 1:1 scale replica of the mask, which is shipping this week to retailers!

This hand-painted and exceptionally detailed reproduction features adjustable straps that allow you to wear it in comfort or hang on the wall. Includes the unique blue chevrons only seen in Friday the 13th Part 5! A great addition to any horror fan’s collection.

No CGI Needed: Survival Thriller ‘Savage Hunt’ Uses a Real Grizzly Bear [Image]

The “animals attack” subgenre is getting a new installment with the upcoming Savage Hunt, a survival thriller from director Roel Reiné (Halo) that Deadline has previewed today.

The site’s report – which brings us a first-look image, seen above – notes: “The production has told us they are currently using a real grizzly bear on location as part of the shoot.”

Here’s the synopsis for the upcoming Savage Hunt: “The story follows a vengeful tracker who is brought in to hunt down a large grizzly bear, which has begun attacking humans when a new local resort begins construction, disrupting the natural habitat of the wildlife.”

“We wanted to strive for as much realism as possible, showing how powerful nature can be, and the effects of man encroaching on an animal’s natural environment,” the producers said.

“Filming with a real bear in real locations with real actors is a very complex task. The production involves a lot of stunts as well and that adds to the complexity,” producer Gabriel Georgiev added. “Roel Reine is the key element for this project. His immense talent and unique cinematic taste, along with his extensive experience make this production one of a kind. We have some amazing scenes in the can already, I can’t wait to see the finished movie.”

Film Bridge International will introduce the project to buyers at the Cannes market.
