Reebok Releasing Limited Edition ‘Alien: Romulus’ Sneakers!
As you may have noticed in the film’s promo materials, Cailee Spaeny’s character in Alien: Romulus rocks a modified version of the futuristic Reebok “Alien Stompers” worn by Ripley and Bishop in Aliens, and we’ve learned that Reebok is releasing limited edition replicas!
Reebok and 20th Century Studios have joined forces for the “Reebok Alien Romulus” ($170) sneaker built for the legendary sci-fi film franchise’s next installment, Alien: Romulus.
Reebok and the Alien franchise share a longstanding history of collaborations dating back to James Cameron’s Aliens, which featured a futuristic pair of Reeboks memorably worn by Ellen Ripley. The shoes were specifically designed for the movie and replicas were in more recent years released by Reebok, becoming highly sought after by horror fans and sneaker collectors.
For the release of Alien: Romulus, the storied franchise is set to reignite thrills with the commercial release of a unique and compelling piece of footwear that will be worn throughout the forthcoming film.
Pulled from the archive and built upon Reebok Basketball’s iconic BB4000 II frame, the “Reebok Alien Romulus” was designed to battle big bugs, featuring an all-leather upper, distressed film-worn finish, Weyland-Yutani logo on the tongue and heel, EVA foam midsole, and a solid rubber cupsole with a grippy traction pattern for grip, among other ‘easter eggs.’
The Reebok x Alien collaboration stands out today as one of the most epic mashups between film and footwear, with the 1986 film-worn “Alien Stomper” boot maintaining “grail” status in contemporary sneaker culture. The brands would come together for additional product collaborations in 2016 (for the 30th anniversary of Aliens) and 2019-20 (for the 40th anniversary of the original 1979 film).
Fans can purchase the “Reebok Alien Romulus” ($170) sneaker beginning August 27, from Reebok.com. 20th Century Studios’ Alien: Romulus opens exclusively in theaters August 16.
