Over 30 years after Todd McFarlane first drew Batman for Batman: Year Two, the legendary artist has reunited with the caped crusader in celebration of Batman’s 80th anniversary!
Revealed by Forbes today, McFarlane has designed a killer new 1:10 scale statue for DC’s “Batman Black & White” line, and the site also lets us know that a life-size version of the statue that stands over 6-feet tall will be unveiled at the San Diego Comic-Con this week. It’ll be put up for auction at the event, with one lucky fan taking the super-sized statue home.
“It’s a huge year for Batman fans and I’m tremendously excited to be part of the character’s induction into The Comic-Con Museum’s Hall of Fame. To simply be a part of the 80th anniversary of a character that has always held such a special place in my heart is an honor,” said McFarlane. “But in designing this statue I truly feel like I’m adding to Batman’s legacy and in the process benefiting a hall of fame that will become an institution both for comic fans and the San Diego community.”
The statue, based on Todd McFarlane’s own cover artwork for Batman Volume 1 #423 (September 1988), will be on display at San Diego Comic Con’s “The Batman Experience.”
