Just one day after the martians from Mars Attacks appeared in Walmart’s Super Bowl commercial, a new trading card set from Topps has launched on Kickstarter this morning!
The all-new trading card series Mars Attacks: Uprising comes from Topps and SideKick Lab, and the $25,000 goal amount has already been smashed to pieces.
The sequel to the 2015 Kickstarter-funded series Mars Attacks: Occupation, this set is designed to be enjoyed all on its own, or as part of the larger saga.
The set will begin with a 72 card base set with 18 all-new story cards by Ed Repka, William Skaar, Carlos Valenzuela, and Paolo Parente (that may expand to as many as 45), special chase cards (including a “Mars Motors”, a Mars Attacks/Hot Rod mashup, and a sequel to the 2015 fan favorite crossover with Dinosaurs Attack!), autograph cards from contributing artists and legacy creators, sketch cards, and so much more!
Full sets begin at just $40, and you can even donate at the $2,000 level to have your own likeness drawn into one of the cards. Yes, you’ll become a character in Mars Attacks: Uprising.
At the time of this writing, Mars Attacks fans have already pooled together over $30,000, meaning the project has been fully funded and stretch goals are being unlocked.
