NECA Turns Tom Savini’s Jason from ‘Friday the 13th: The Game’ into Official Action Figure
Several years after Friday the 13th: The Game came to an end due to messy legal issues that have only been cleared up more recently, NECA has announced that they’re turning the special Tom Savini-designed Jason Voorhees skin from the game into an action figure!
Part of the new multi-pronged “Jason Universe” initiative, NECA’s 7″ Scale – Ultimate Savini Jason Action Figure is now on display at San Diego Comic-Con, and our friends over at ToyArk.com have been able to snap some killer photos on the show floor. Check ’em out below!
This is notably the first ever officially licensed collectible based on the fan-favorite 2017 video game Friday the 13th: The Game, and it’s expected to be released later this year.
Makeup effects legend Tom Savini of course designed the original Jason, seen in Friday the 13th (1980), as well as The Final Chapter‘s Jason, and “Savini Jason” was his interpretation of what might have happened to Jason after the epic finale of Jason Goes to Hell.
The “Jason Universe” initiative will host its own San Diego Comic-Con panel on Friday, July 25, and it’s being presented as a “celebration of Friday the 13th‘s 45th anniversary that’s filled with exclusive first looks, multiple standout giveaways, and a deep dive into Jason’s blood-soaked history and what’s lurking ahead.”
Among other things, it’ll feature a first look at “Sweet Revenge,” an Angry Orchard short-form “vignette” that’s being directed by Mike P. Nelson (Wrong Turn, Silent Night, Deadly Night). A message from the set of Peacock and A24’s “Crystal Lake” is also being promised, with the panelists including Mike P. Nelson, Horror, Inc. President Robert Barsamian, VP Robbie Barsamian, and CMO Sheri Conn, as well as Atomic Monster EVP of Film Judson Scott.

‘Scary Movie’ Official Popcorn Bucket Is Shaped Like a Retro ’90s Telephone
The official social media accounts for Scary Movie had recently teased a bong-shaped popcorn bucket, but unfortunately it seems that was just a gag. The actual official Scary Movie popcorn bucket has been revealed by Discussing Film this afternoon, and it’s a bit more practical.
The actual Scary Movie popcorn bucket you’ll be able to get in theaters is shaped like an old school phone, as seen in Wes Craven’s Scream as well as the original Scary Movie in 2000.
The Scary Movie Phone Popcorn Bucket glows in the dark, and it’s emblazoned with “WAZZUP!” on the side, a reference to a memorable moment from the 2000 movie.
A phone number has been set up as part of the movie’s marketing campaign this week, allowing you to call Marlon Wayans’ Shorty for a fun spoof of the retro Moviefone experience.
Call Shorty now at: (855) WAZ-ZZUP
Hitting theaters June 5, 2026, Scary Movie has been Rated ‘R’ for “crude sexual content, graphic nudity, strong violence, and drug content and language throughout.”
Marlon Wayans (“Shorty”), Shawn Wayans (“Ray”), Anna Faris (“Cindy”), and Regina Hall (“Brenda”) reunite for the new Scary Movie, with the cast also including Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Jon Abrahams, Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, and Felissa Rose.
Twenty-six years after outrunning a suspiciously familiar masked killer (“Ghostface”), the Core Four are back in the killer’s crosshairs and no horror movie IP is safe…
Scary Movie will slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t. A whole lot has changed in the horror genre since the Wayans Brothers were in charge of the franchise; their involvement ended with Scary Movie 2 back in 2001!
Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs Scary Movie 6 from a script written by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans (Scary Movie 2), and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).
