One of the big worries that many of the comic readers of “The Walking Dead” had with the introduction of Negan was that we wouldn’t be able to hear his filthy mouth running nonstop. After all, the man loves to say the word “fuck” in all its wonderful linguistic possibilities. But that word is a big no-no on cable TV, so they had to shoot a more “family friendly” version that could air uncensored. However, that doesn’t mean they aren’t thinking of the fans and what they want.
Speaking with EW, Greg Nicotero explains, “We had to shoot two versions — we had to shoot the Blu-ray version, which had a lot of the swearing and a lot of Negan’s colorful language, and then we had to shoot the broadcast version. So when you get the DVD or the Blu-ray version, that will have the full Negan speech from the graphic novel.”
The team has done this before, creating a censored version of Rick’s speech at the end of season 4 which was then shown uncut on the DVD/blu-ray. Originally they had him saying, “They’re screwing with the wrong people.” Below is the original version.
And for those wondering if the person who died will leak out, don’t hold your breath. Not even the cast knows who bit the bullet. Well, who bit the baseball bat, but that’s beside the point.
“It was specifically written that way,” explains Nicotero. “
Guess we’ll have to wait until next season to see what happened.
