Jamie Lee Curtis Will Direct an Episode of “Scream Queens”

Ryan Murphy is all about giving people a shot a proving their talent, which is why he launched the Half Foundation, which has the goal to have 50% of director slots on his show filled by women, people of color, or members of the LGBT community, according to THR.

To that end, it’s been announced that “Scream Queens” star Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween, Prom Night) will direct the eighth episode of the show, per Deadline. This is the first time she will be directing an hour-long episode as her previous experience seems to only be an episode of 1992’s “Anything but Love”.

Season Two of “Scream Queens” graduates from the college campus and into an all-new location, as a terrifyingly funny murder mystery will begin once again. This time, the show will be set in a hospital, where some of the most fascinating and bizarre medical cases are under observation.

“Scream Queens” stars Emma Roberts, Abigail Breslin, Billie Lourd, Taylor Lautner, John Stamos, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

The show is executively produced by Ryan Murphy (“American Horror Story”), Brad Falchuk (“Glee”), and Ian Brennan (“Glee”). Emma Roberts, Abigail Breslin, and Billie Lourd return and are joined by Taylor Lautner, Colton Haynes, and John Stamos.

“Scream Queens” returns September 20th at 9 pm ET.

Scream 7 Courteney Cox

Ghostface will return in Scream 7 for Paramount and Spyglass, and Variety reports this week that franchise mainstay Courteney Cox is in talks to return as Gale Weathers.

Cox’s Gale Weathers has been part of the franchise since the very beginning, with Cox starring in every single installment in the franchise to date. While Dewey Riley was killed off in the fifth installment, Gale just keeps on surviving, most recently beating the odds in Scream VI. How many more massacres can Gale manage to survive? Is her number finally coming up?

It was recently announced that Neve Campbell will also return in Scream 7, with Campbell herself revealing that she’ll be back as Sidney Prescott in the upcoming Spyglass sequel.

Additionally, original Scream scribe Kevin Williamson will DIRECT the film.

Williamson recently wrote on Instagram, “It’s been nearly 30 years since my very first script, ‘Scream,’ was directed by the legendary Wes Craven. I never would have predicted what it would become. Or that I would be directing the seventh installment of the franchise. I am overcome with gratitude and excitement, and I can’t wait to take this journey with Neve and the entire ‘Scream’ family as we bring back Sidney Prescott in the next chapter of the ‘Scream’ franchise. Thank you to all the ‘Scream’ fans. You are the gift that keeps giving.”

The upcoming Scream 7, which is currently untitled, was written by Guy Busick from a story by James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick. Stay tuned for more on the film as we learn it.

The franchise has been mired in controversy in the past several months, with new series leads Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega both exiting the project. Barrera was fired, while it was subsequently announced that Ortega wouldn’t be returning. In the wake of all that news, director Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day) also departed the project.

Courteney Cox had recently been leading the cast of small screen horror series “Shining Vale,” but we learned last year that after two seasons, the series has unfortunately been cancelled.
