Watch the Haunted “Candle Cove” Episode From Syfy’s “Channel Zero”! (Exclusive)
With only three episodes left, the mystery behind Syfy’s “Channel Zero” is only intensifying. It’s clear that “Candle Cove” exists, but who created it, and why have they returned? What’s the motive behind the haunted children’s show and how does Mike Painter’s (Paul Schneider) twin brother mix into all of it? The chilling “Candle Cove” is the centerpiece of “Channel Zero” and I’ve been dying to watch it in full. So I asked Syfy, who gave us an exclusive look as a very special Halloween treat! Enter the cave and find the treasure below!
“Channel Zero” has the same emotional feel as reading a creepypasta; it’s horror poetry in motion. There’s so much strange and unsettling imagery mixed in with the otherworldly/fantastical vibe. It’s a weird cross-hybrid of genres that feels like softer-paced In the Mouth of Madness, only the huge mystery in the center of this storm is based around a 1980s kids television show instead of a book.

“Candle Cove”, the first season that consists of six episodes, is based on Kris Straub’s unnerving “creepypasta” short story that gained notoriety on the popular horror site. It centers on one man’s obsessive recollection of a mysterious children’s television program from the 1980s – and his ever-growing, dreadful suspicions about its possible connection in a series of nightmarish and deadly events from his childhood.
In tomorrow’s episode, “A Strange Vessel”, when Mike’s daughter Lily mysteriously arrives in Iron Hill, we learn more about the murders of 1988. Mike and Jessica also take drastic measures to heal the past and protect Lily from Candle Cove.
Nick Antosca (“Hannibal”) wrote the pilot and serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Max Landis (Victor Frankenstein, Chronicle). Harley Peyton (“Twin Peaks”) is writer-co-executive producer, while Don Mancini (“Hannibal”, creator of Child’s Play) also serves as a writer-supervising producer.

Mike Painter (Paul Schneider, “Parks and Recreation”) returns to the hometown he left as a kid only to relive the happenings of years ago when his brother was one of five children murdered in a case that was never solved. Old memories return to the surface when one mother’s child goes missing after mentioning that she had been watching CANDLE COVE, an eerie children’s puppet show he used to watch around the time of his brother’s murder. Although others remember watching this show, they are startled by the realization that it never truly existed and they had been staring at TV static.
“Channel Zero: Candle Cove” returns tomorrow at 9/8c on Syfy.
