We already learned back in May that Syfy, as part of their 25th anniversary reboot, was developing a series based on “Game of Thrones” writer George R.R. Martin’s supernatural novella “Nightflyers”, but at the time a pilot hadn’t yet been ordered. In other words, nothing was set in stone.
But that has changed today, as Deadline reports that Syfy has officially given the green light to a pilot for “Nightflyers.” The site also notes that the project, from Universal Cable Prods. and studio-based Hypnotic, is in the process of setting up a writers room to generate backup scripts in preparation for a potential series pickup.
Jeff Buhler (Jacob’s Ladder) wrote the adaptation, set in the future on the eve of Earth’s destruction….
