Hitler is Going to Appear on Next Week’s “Preacher” (Trailer)

Published

As revealed in a recent interview with THR, the third episode of “Preacher’s” second season sees “Game of Thrones” veteran Noah Taylor stepping into the role of Hitler, who now resides in hell and lives just a few cells down the hall from fellow inmate Eugene (Ian Colletti), who was unwittingly banished to the underworld by Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) back in season one.

What can fans expect? Get this: “We’re not trying to rehabilitate Hitler,” says series showrunner Sam Catlin, “but I will say, by the end of the season, hopefully, people will have a degree of affection for at least our ‘Preacher’ version of Hitler.

Last night’s episode shared a new origin for “Arseface” (Eugene) who, instead of being a jackass that imitates his idol Kurt Cobain, is now a sympathetic teenager put in a horrible position by a suicidal friend. In Hell, he’s reliving this horrifying moment over and over. Meanwhile, Hitler is about to introduce himself as shown in this sneak peak at next week’s episode, “Viktor”:

And speaking of the episode’s title, Viktor is a character that’s been hunting Tulip (Ruth Nega) and finally captured her in New Orleans. The next episode puts Tulip in front of one of the season’s antagonists who is clearly torturing someone in this teaser clip. “Preacher” has completely deviated from the comic at this point and I couldn’t be happier. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have done a tremendous job of keeping the spirit of Garth Ennis’ comic alive while injecting it with their own venom.

What do you guys think so far?

McDonald’s No-Clips Out of Reality with Unexpected ‘Backrooms’ Short Movie

The best part about engaging with collaborative genre fiction on the internet is that anyone can get in on the action, with worldwide accessibility often resulting in absurd story beats that wouldn’t be possible if any single person was responsible for the entire narrative. And while Kane Parsons’ Backrooms film is definitely the young filmmaker’s own unique take on the infamous creepypasta, it’s fun to see other creators join the Backrooms sandbox now that the big screen adaptation is getting ready for a record-shattering opening weekend.

As if cleverly timed releases like Puppet Combo’s The Backrooms game weren’t enough (not to mention that Scary Movie poster poking fun at Parsons’ flick), McDonald’s official social media accounts have now released an analog horror video of their own celebrating the liminal terrors of the McRooms – complete with a familiar purple surprise at the end of the footage.

While it’s funny enough to see the world’s most recognizable Fast Food giant engage with internet-borne Found Footage thrills seemingly out of the blue, the video is actually referencing a long-running gag among the Backrooms fandom where creators jokingly talk about there being a fully functional McDonald’s restaurant hidden somewhere in level 0 of the infamous liminal labyrinth.

Now, would it be too much to hope for a moist-carpet-flavored McShake to tie in with the film?

Backrooms is now playing only in theaters from A24.
