The single most exciting thing about the upcoming third season of HBO’s “True Detective” was that Blue Ruin and Green Room director Jeremy Saulnier had been scooped up to split directing duties with Nic Pizzolatto, as Saulnier is one of the hottest and most exciting directors working today. Sadly, the relationship has ended.
Scheduling issues have led to Saulnier and “True Detective” parting ways in the wake of Saulnier directing just two episodes. Daniel Sackheim (“Game of Thrones”) is taking Saulnier’s place as co-director and executive producer of Season 3. Saulnier addressed the sad news on Twitter last night with a simple “No comment.”
