“Although we made a fantastic pilot (IMHO) the network has decided not to move forward.” – Kevin Bacon
One of the horror projects we’ve been most excited about this past year was Syfy’s “Tremors” TV series, which was to operate as a sequel to the original film and put Kevin Bacon back into the role of Valentine McKee. Sadly, as we learned over the weekend, the Vincenzo Natali-directed pilot will not be turned into a series by Syfy after all.
The network has decided to pull the plug, with only the pilot filmed.
The series was set to pick up 25 years after the killer Graboid worms nearly destroyed the Nevada town of Perfection. Bacon was to reprise the role of Valentine McKee, who beat the sandworms once and would attempt to do it again; but first he’d have to deal with age, alcohol and a delusional hero complex.
Writer Andrew Miller shared some photos of Bacon as McKee over the weekend, and he’s taken to Twitter again now to share some more fun set photos that tease what could’ve been. In this batch of photos, director Vincenzo Natali stands in front of a bloody Graboid hole, while the other photos show off Valentine McKee merch in a Perfection gift shop.
Ah, what could have been. Can we at least see that pilot?!

If it were up to me the Val action figures would’ve been in all the press kits. With these Graboid sand globes! pic.twitter.com/dtDnmWfcRp
