“Stranger Things” Season 3 Won’t Be All Summer of Fun, But Rather the Darkest Season to Date

The team behind Netflix’s “Stranger Things” is taking their time with the third season, which is set to premiere not this year but *next* Summer, just about one year from now. The events of Season 3 take place in the Summer of 1985, and we’ve been promised a bigger, more exciting and more action packed season than ever before.

As it turns out, Season 3 will also be the show’s *darkest* to date.

There’s no question that, as you saw in that [recent teaser] infomercial, Starcourt Mall is a part of season 3. As is summertime. So season 3 has a really healthy dose of poppy, bright levity and cultural fun,” producer Shawn Levy told The Playlist. But I can only promise you that season 3 eventually goes places that are darker, and unquestionably more action-packed, than we’ve ever gone before.”

Levy added, “It would be a mistake for anyone to think that season 3 is the summer of fun and lightness because it’s a whole lot more than that.”

If you missed it, you can check out the aforementioned Season 3 tease below.
