The team behind Netflix’s “Stranger Things” is taking their time with the third season, which is set to premiere not this year but *next* Summer, just about one year from now. The events of Season 3 take place in the Summer of 1985, and we’ve been promised a bigger, more exciting and more action packed season than ever before.
As it turns out, Season 3 will also be the show’s *darkest* to date.
“There’s no question that, as you saw in that [recent teaser] infomercial, Starcourt Mall is a part of season 3. As is summertime. So season 3 has a really healthy dose of poppy, bright levity and cultural fun,” producer Shawn Levy told The Playlist. “But I can only promise you that season 3 eventually goes places that are darker, and unquestionably more action-packed, than we’ve ever gone before.”
Levy added, “It would be a mistake for anyone to think that season 3 is the summer of fun and lightness because it’s a whole lot more than that.”
