As we learned earlier this summer, Clive Barker’s Nightbreed is getting the small screen treatment, with a TV series in the works at Syfy. The project hails from Barker, writer Josh Stolberg (Jigsaw, Piranha), Morgan Creek Entertainment and Universal Cable Prods., and like the 1990 film, it’s based on the Barker novel Cabal.
We heard back in June, the series will explore race relations in America, only the races are Humans and Monsters. It follows a group of underground half-human/half-monsters seeking to find a new refuge and home after their original hiding place is destroyed.
“Leading these efforts is a recently turned reluctant hero who not only is adjusting to his new supernatural status but also is dealing with the grief and mystery surrounding the death of his fiancée. Will this group band together despite being hunted and persecuted by humans who find their “otherness” to be frightening?”
Stolberg is penning the series, and he just teased over on Twitter last night that masked maniac Philip K. Decker, played by David Cronenberg in Barker’s film, will be back!
Good ol’ Buttonface. I’ll be playing with him this fall!!! pic.twitter.com/vzerW3DTQz
