[Image] One of the Hidden Ghosts in “The Haunting of Hill House” is a ‘Gerald’s Game’ Easter Egg

Carla Gugino in 'Gerald's Game'

In almost every episode of Netflix’s “The Haunting of Hill House, Mike Flanagan has hidden hard-to-spot ghosts in the background, and we whipped up a handy little guide this week in an effort to help you find some of them. As Flanagan recently teased to us, some of those hidden ghosts are even call-backs/tributes to his previous films, including Gerald’s Game!

Before “The Haunting of Hill House,” Flanagan adapted Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game for Netflix, starring Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood. As it turns out, Greenwood played one of the Easter egg ghosts in “The Haunting of Hill House,” appearing in a shot with Gugino!

Flanagan spilled the beans in a chat with Variety, directing audiences to an early scene in Episode 5, wherein a young Nell sees the bent-neck lady and goes into her parents’ room.

In Carla’s medium closeup, on the left side of the frame, [Greenwood is] sitting there behind her and he’s out of focus enough that he looks like he’s just part of the wall.

Essentially, this scene is a big ole Gerald’s Game reunion, as not only did Bruce Greenwood and Carla Gugino co-star in last year’s film, but Henry Thomas also starred alongside them!
