In what promises to be an amusing addition to their lineup, The Wrap reports today that Syfy has ordered up its first original late night series in the form of “Alien News Desk,“ a weekly, half-hour topical animated series set in an extraterrestrial newsroom.
Will Forte and Heidi Gardner will star as the voices of the animated alien reporters (Drexx Drudlarr and Tuva Van Void, pictured above), and Syfy details that the 12-episode series is set to “cover up-to-the-minute news and commentary about the universe’s most baffling species — the inscrutable Humans of Planet Earth.”
Dennis McNicholas, the head writer for “Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update,” is executive producer and showrunner.
“Alien News Desk” is set to premiere in 2019.
