Director Len Wiseman Shares First Look at DC’s “Swamp Thing” Series

The James Wan-produced “Swamp Thing” series is targeting a 2019 premiere on the DC Universe streaming service, and director Len Wiseman (Underworld) has provided us with a couple early first looks this week via Instagram. The first is a photo of stars Andy Bean and Crystal Reed on set, while the second is a behind the scenes video of the titular swamp.

Sorry, no images of the Swamp Thing himself just yet, but hang tight!

Jennifer BealsVirginia Madsen, Ian Ziering,Will Patton, Andy BeanCrystal Reed, Derek Mears, Kevin Durand, Henderson Wade, Jeryl Prescott and Maria Sten star.

The series, based on the DC characters created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, is being written by “Ash vs. Evil Dead” writer Mark Verheiden and IT co-writer Gary Dauberman.

“Swamp Thing” centers on CDC researcher Abby Arcane. When she returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.

The series aiming to be scary and rated “R” violent, primarily based on Alan Moore’s run. It will also feature a practical creature suit, which Mears will be donning.
