Below you’ll see the first image from upcoming Netflix series “Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045”, shared by Variety today. As part of an initiative to honor Japan’s animation history, the site notes, Netflix has been developing the brand new animated series set within the iconic Ghost in the Shell universe, from “Ultraman” directors Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama.
“The two confirmed on Tuesday night that relative animation newcomer Ilya Kuvshinow will head character design on the show,” Variety also notes. “The series will be the first time the IP will be fully-animated in 3DCG. Kamiyama and Production I.G will team up with Aramaki and Sola Digital Arts.”
The series is expected to arrive in 2020.
