Amazon Cancels “Lore” and “Too Old to Die Young” But Renews “The Expanse” and “Carnival Row”

Announced over the weekend, Amazon has pulled the plug on anthology horror series “Lore” after just two seasons. The series, which premiered its second season last Halloween season, explored the real-life frightening and disturbing tales that gave rise to modern-day myths and legends. It was based on the same-titled podcast, which is now getting a comic series.

In better news, Amazon has renewed the sci-fi drama “The Expanse” for a fifth season. The series originally aired on Syfy, with that network cancelling the show after three seasons.

But first, the fourth season of “The Expanse” arrives on December 13. Deadline details, “The fourth season begins a new chapter for the series with the crew of the Rocinante on a mission from the UN to explore new worlds beyond the Ring Gate. Humanity has been given access to thousands of Earth-like planets which has created a land rush and furthered tensions between the opposing nations of Earth, Mars and the Belt. Ilus is the first of these planets, one rich with natural resources but also marked by the ruins of a long dead alien civilization. While Earthers, Martians and Belters maneuver to colonize Ilus and its natural resources, these early explorers don’t understand this new world and are unaware of the larger dangers that await them.”

And lastly, the Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne-starring “Carnival Row, which premieres its first season on August 30th, has already been renewed for a second by Amazon.

“Carnival Row” is set in a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose exotic homelands were invaded by the empires of man.

UPDATE: Amazon has also cancelled Nicolas Winding Refn’s “Too Old to Die Young.”
