Being a superfan of Rod Serling’s “The Twilight Zone”, I felt that the CBS All Access series, which features Jordan Peele as producer and host, misunderstands the original and turned it from a sci-fi thriller into episodes of “Afterschool Special”. With a second season on the horizon, I’m hoping they can find their voice that’s more in line with the original series.
With that said, Deadline reports that Peele will write an episode for the second season. The Get Out and Us writer and director Peele will write the episode “Downtime”, which features Morena Baccarin (Deadpool), Colman Domingo (“Fear the Walking Dead”) and Joel McHale (Deliver Us from Evil, The Happytime Murders).
As shown with Us and Get Out, Peele is a master at mixing the social commentary with horror, something that was completely out of place in the show’s first season. Now that Peele isn’t busy filming a movie, maybe he’s giving more attention to the show’s second season?
In any sense, CBS All Access also announced the following cast: Billy Porter, Jenna Elfman, Gillian Jacobs and Chris Meloni, with Ethan Embry, Tony Hale, Abbie Hern, Sophia Macy, Jimmi Simpson, Tavi Gevinson and Daniel Sunjata.
The CBS All Access series is a modern reimagining of Rod Serling’s original, which aired from 1959-64 on CBS.
