Showtime has confirmed today (via Deadline) that they’re developing horror-comedy series “The Auteur,” a half-hour adaptation of the same-titled graphic novel that’s being co-written and directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows, Jojo Rabbit).
Waititi will write the series with Peter Warren (Ghost Team), and the site notes that Waititi is directing the pilot and may direct other episodes depending on his availability.
“Based on the graphic novel by Rick Spears, James Callahan and Luigi Anderson, The Auteur is described as a gonzo horror-comedy, a twisted romance and a glamorous, high wire act of biting satire. In it, desperate to make a great horror movie after a massive bomb, a film producer accidentally traps his production on a backlot with a serial killer.”
Executive producers include Jude Law and Taika Waititi.
The series comes from Showtime, Legendary and Endeavor Content.
