Netflix’s “Marianne” Will Not Be Returning for a Second Season

Published

on

Sadly, another great show bites the dust.

One of our favorite new horror projects of 2019 was Netflix‘s “Marianne,” a gripping eight episodes of television led by Victoire Du Bois. Charming, scary and emotional, the French series was the talk of the horror community when it hit the streaming service back in September, earning rave reviews from the likes of Stephen King and our own Meagan Navarro.

Without giving away any spoilers, the first season of “Marianne” ended with a tease of more story left to tell. Unfortunately, creator/writer/director Samuel Bodin brings bad news.

Bodin writes over on Instagram, “There won’t be a second season for MARIANNE. We are very sorry and sad about that. But we will see you in other stories…

In “Marianne,” Emma, a famous and successful French horror writer, is forced to return to her hometown after the woman who haunted her dreams fifteen years ago begins to re-appear.

The good news? The first season of “Marianne” tells a complete and satisfying story even if Bodin clearly had more in mind for his main character, so don’t be discouraged from checking it out if you haven’t done so yet. All of us here on BD highly recommend this one, and we can’t wait to see what’s next from Bodin. Here’s hoping he’s got more horrors in store for us…
