Yet another new take on Count Dracula will appear in ABC‘s horror pilot “The Brides,” which comes from “Riverdale” and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and centers on the Brides of Dracula. Gina Torres (“Hannibal”) will star in the pilot as one of the brides, and we’ve learned that Goran Višnjić (“Timeless”) will play Dracula.
Deadline notes, “Višnjić’s Dracula is the powerful, ageless, and iconic King of Night who “turned” his three brides. Dracula is left for dead at his destroyed castle in the Carpathian mountains while his three wives — Cleo, Renée, and Lily — flee to start a new life together.”
The cast also includes Erin Richards, Katherine Reis, Chris Mason and Sophia Tatum.
“The Brides is a sexy, contemporary reimagining of the Dracula saga as a family drama with a trio of powerful, diverse female leads.”
“With strong horror elements, The Brides is a vampire soap about empowered, immortal women and the things they do to maintain wealth, prestige, legacy—and their non-traditional family.”
Maggie Kiley (“American Horror Story”) is on board to direct the pilot, being written by Aguirre-Sacasa. “The Brides” is being produced with Berlanti Productions.
