One of my favorite genre films of 2014 was Jonathan Glazer‘s sci-fi thriller Under the Skin, which began A24’s run as the best in arthouse horror.
The film starred Scarlett Johansson as a mysterious young woman who seduces lonely men in the evening hours in Scotland.
Deadline had previously reported that a bidding war was underway between the film’s original financier Silver Reel and studio-distributor A24, while an update today claims the former won the battle.
“The Silver Reel deal comes after the producer originally bankrolled the 2013 Scarlett Johansson movie alongside Film4 and the BFI, and brings to a head its protracted attempts to get a television series off the ground,” writes the site.
Under the Skin was both spooky and nerve-wracking, with Johansson delivering a maliciously premeditative and seductive powerhouse performance.
