After just one season, Ruby Rose has stepped away from the role of “Batwoman” in The CW‘s series, paving the way for Javicia Leslie to become the brand new small screen Batwoman.
Leslie will play Ryan Wilder when the show returns for its second season, and two first-look images were shared by The CW today. Meet your new Batwoman below!
“I love the fact that Ryan is becoming her own Batwoman — it’s her style, her swag, and her moment! It was an honor to be able to collaborate with Caroline and Maya,” Javicia Leslie said in a statement. “I felt it was important that viewers could tell by the silhouette that Batwoman was a Black girl. With the form-fitting suit and beautiful Afro, we definitely nailed it!”
THR notes that the new suit was designed/created by Maya Mani and Ocean Drive Leather, “with the wig created by Janice Workman and makeup styled by Cory Roberts.”
