It’s not a horror project but we figured horror fans would like to hear that Bruce Campbell has booked his next gig, set to star in the pilot episode of a new sitcom for ABC.
Deadline reports this afternoon that Campbell is on board for the single-camera sitcom pilot “Adopted,” which is co-written and produced by Jimmy Kimmel for ABC.
The cast also includes co-creator Shawn Vance, “whose life inspired the series,” as well as Wendie Malick, Maxim Swinton, Tate Moore, Sofia Pernas, and Reyn Doi.
Deadline details, “Adopted is inspired by a true story. In it, when a Green Beret (Vance) returns home to Texas from military service, he and his family struggle with the challenges of adopting his new brother, a 12-year-old Russian boy (Swinton).”
As for Campbell’s character, it sounds like the sort of role he’s perfect for. “Campbell plays Shawn’s dad, John Voss. A goofy, optimistic, carefree, and conservative Dad, John is a red-blooded, all-American, business owner who hates negative thoughts… so he doesn’t have ‘em! He’s as out-of-touch as he is unaware, but makes up for it with his jolly nature. His greatest fear is interpersonal conflict, and now that the house is full of kids, conflict is inevitable.”
