Acclaimed Series “The Island” Now Streaming on Screambox; From the Director of ‘Antibodies’ and ‘Pandorum’!

Halloween is coming to an end but Screambox is horror 365. We just relaunched the service with the addition of the excellent zombie-comedy Brain Freeze and the dramatic horror Not Alone, in which a family’s dream home becomes a nightmare.

Just in time for the holiday weekend, Screambox is now home to a pandemic-fueled new series from celebrated filmmaker Christian Alvart, the director behind horror favs Antibodies and Pandorum, not to mention Case 39 and Netflix’s “Dogs of Berlin”.

All eight episodes of the coming-of-age, pandemic thriller “The Island” (“Sløborn”) are now streaming on Screambox.

“Blurring the line between pandemic fantasy and reality, the series centers around a remote island in the North Sea that falls victim to a merciless and mysterious virus. As authorities rush to contain the disease, a fever of madness sweeps across the island.”

“‘The Island’ [is] a coming-of-age-drama and post-apocalyptic disaster thriller merge into a modern epic,” explains ZDF Enterprises’ Robert Franke, “In a radical, uncompromising manner, the series raises the question of what happens to us modern people when the thin varnish of our civilization collapses. It has all the hallmarks of a top-quality thriller.”

Adolfo J. Kolmerer also directs.

Horror movie fanatic who co-founded Bloody Disgusting in 2001. Producer on Southbound, V/H/S/2/3/94, SiREN, Under the Bed, and A Horrible Way to Die. Chicago-based. Horror, pizza and basketball connoisseur. Taco Bell daily. Franchise favs: Hellraiser, Child's Play, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Scream and Friday the 13th. Horror 365 days a year.

Popcorn buckets are all the rage right now with several sparking controversy, including this gem for Dune: Part Two. Studios continue to push the envelope with rumors that the bucket for Deadpool & Wolverine will be nothing short of “intentionally crude and lewd,” teased Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. But what about horror?

Horror fans hope to see a Terrifier popcorn bucket available in theaters nationwide when Terrifier 3 releases this fall. Over the weekend, a hardcore fan launched a petition to raise awareness for a potential Terrifier 3 popcorn bucket. I immediately fantasized about eating pink popcorn out of Art the Clown’s head.

What would you want to see out of a Terrifier popcorn bucket? Damien Leone and Phil Falcone’s third film is Christmas-themed so I’m sure there’s no shortage of cool ideas.

Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting are reteaming with Iconic Events Releasing as the theatrical distribution partner for Terrifier 3, coming to theaters nationwide later this year.

While you wait, you can stream Terrifier 2 on SCREAMBOX now.
