‘Absolute Batman’ To Get Animated Series from DC Studios & Warner Bros. Animation
Batman’s plunge into body horror is one of the many reasons why Scott Snyder’s record-breaking Absolute Batman has become so popular, so much so that an animated series adaptation is officially on the way.
DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation announced the series adaptation of Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta’s best-selling DC comic book series, THR reports.
Absolute Batman reimagines the Dark Knight for a new generation as a working-class hero, instead of rich, up against impossible odds on a mission to save a much more violent Gotham.
Snyder will serve as executive producer and showrunner, with Dragotta as producer.
In his deep dive into the comic series’ vision of horror, Aaron Boehm writes, “The series is all gas, no brakes, moving at a breathless pace with big narrative swings that frequently upend the status quo and move things forward narratively with reckless abandon. I’ve enjoyed Batman in various movies, cartoons, and comics since the animated series, but this book still finds ways to surprise me with its radical new takes.“
It’s bold vision, especially where Batman’s villains are concerned, should make this series stand-out in a crowded field for Batman adaptations and series.
Launched in 2024, the comic series has sold more than six million copies, with the first volume on its 11th print run.
