‘Mr. Entity: The Moffitt Family Haunting’ – Blumhouse’s Latest Horror Franchise Revealed

Mr. Entity

Bloody Disgusting has learned this afternoon that Blumhouse has acquired the highly sought-after rights to the life story of mother and daughter, Deborah and Jessica Moffitt, who were terrorized alongside other members of the Moffitt family (who were living under the same roof) for more than six years by a supernatural presence they called “Mr. Entity.”

The company also acquired the rights to Jessica’s forthcoming book manuscript “Mr. Entity: The Moffitt Family Haunting,” written from the perspective and first-hand accounts of Deborah, as well as the family’s archive. The manuscript delves deeper into the hauntings and the family’s background going back to Jessica’s great-grandfather’s ties to the Mafia and the nefarious intentions of Jessica’s grandfather against her grandmother, Lee Moffitt.

The story of the Moffitt family and the first public account of the hauntings were detailed in a 2022 viral article written by Jessica Moffitt. The Moffitts were terrorized by the menacing presence in their Southern California home from the late 1980s to early 1990s but had long maintained a veil of secrecy about their experiences, with the exception of paranormal experts. Renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, made famous by the Conjuring film franchise, were among those who attempted to help the Moffitt family.

In addition to the unscripted series in development with ITV America’s Good Caper Content through Blumhouse Television’s exclusive overall unscripted deal with ITV America, Jason Blum’s film and television studio is developing for scripted series and film.

“Blumhouse is renowned for their storytelling in the paranormal horror space, and we couldn’t ask for better partners to tell our family’s story,” said Deborah and Jessica Moffitt. “We’re excited that this first project, the unscripted series with Blumhouse Television and Good Caper, will allow us to share first-hand accounts of the disturbing events that altered the course of our lives.”

“The story of Mr. Entity is one of the best examples we’ve seen of truth being stranger than fiction. We’re grateful for the unfettered access that Deborah and Jessica Moffitt have provided us to their stories, and for entrusting us to tell it in rich detail in this first iteration as an unscripted series with our partners at ITV America’s Good Caper Content,” said Chris McCumber, President of Blumhouse Television.

Added Good Caper Content Senior Vice President of Development Alison Dammann, “The Moffitts’ unique family history and inexplicable experiences offer ample room for exploration. With Good Caper’s background and approach to investigative storytelling, paired with the incomparable team at Blumhouse Television, we feel well-equipped to unravel the complexities of this bizarre and breathtaking story.”

As someone who is obsessed with UFOS (or more recently known as UAPs) and the concept of extraterrestrials, I love a good documentary. Sightings have been on the rise since the 1940s, with the atomic bomb seemingly acting as a catalyst for new visitors. But what are these UFOs/UAPs? Is there an explanation or are they simply beyond our explanation? Why are they here? Who are they? How much do our governments know? The questions are endless and so are the documentaries that attempt to uncover the secrets behind decades of sightings and alleged confrontations.

Whether you’re a seasoned viewer or new to the rabbit hole, there’s always a handful of interesting documentaries to get your neurons firing and leave you with sleepless nights.
