The CW’s hit series “Supernatural” lasted a staggering 15 seasons, but it looks like spinoff prequel “The Winchesters” won’t be making it that far. In fact, it’s already been cancelled.

After just ONE season, The CW has pulled the plug on “The Winchesters.”

Deadline reports, “The CW has opted not to pick up a second season of The Winchesters. The news is not surprising; the Supernatural prequel was among the long-shot renewal prospects at the network under its new ownership as it focuses on unscripted and lower-cost scripted programming (primarily international acquisitions/co-productions) in pursuit of profitability.”

The good news for fans of the show? Warner Bros. Television is reportedly looking for a new home for “The Winchesters,” so there’s a chance it could be picked up by someone else.

“The Winchesters” tells the epic story of how Sam and Dean’s parents John and Mary met, “and how they put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world.”

In the prequel series, “Mary (Meg Donnelly) is 19 years old and has been fighting the forces of darkness since she was a child. After losing someone close to her, the hardened hunter considers quitting the family business — until her father’s disappearance and the arrival of newcomer John (Drake Rodger) forces her to lead a new team. John has recently returned from Vietnam. Selfless and clear headed, he finds a new mission back home, where traces of his father’s past lead him to a secret organization and a whole new war as a hunter.”

Jensen Ackles returned to narrate the “Supernatural” prequel as Dean Winchester. “Supernatural” exec producer Robbie Thompson wrote and executive produced.

Jensen Ackles also executive produced the project.
