Actor Kevin Bacon returns to horror once again, this time for Blumhouse TV’s “The Bondsman,” which has been ordered straight-to-series at Amazon’s Prime Video, Variety reports today.

The action horror series “centers on Hub Halloran (Bacon), a backwoods bounty hunter who comes back from the dead with an unexpected second chance at life, love, and a nearly-forgotten musical career — only to find that his old job now has a demonic new twist.”

“The Bondsman” was created by Grainger David (The Chair), who will also executive produce. Erik Oleson will serve as showrunner and executive producer via CrimeThink.

Jason Blum, Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold, and Chris Dickie for Blumhouse TV also executive produce, as does Paul Shapiro from CrimeThink. Bacon will also executive produce in addition to leading the series.

Bacon most recently starred in Blumhouse’s They/Them and has a lengthy history with horror. The actor appeared in Friday the 13th early in his career and has since delivered memorable turns in TremorsFlatlinersStir of Echoes, and Hollow Man, to name a few. He previously starred in Prime Video’s “I Love Dick,” making this the second series with Prime Video for the actor.

“The Bondsman” also marks the latest collaboration between Blumhouse and Amazon; Blumhouse is also behind Prime Video’s upcoming horror dramedy “The Horror of Dolores Roach,” set to debut on July 7.

Oleson most recently worked as showrunner and executive producer on the final season of the Prime Video series “Carnival Row.” His other credits include working as showrunner on “Daredevil” Season 3 at Netflix.

Amazon ordered eight half-hour episodes. However, production won’t begin until all guild labor negotiations have been resolved.

So, don’t expect to see Bacon as an undead bounty hunter any time soon. But we can’t wait to see Bacon as backwooded Hub, hunting demons while chasing love and musical fame.

“I’m the Grim Reaper” – Sam Raimi Teams with ’10 Cloverfield Lane’ Writers on Gory, Funny Webtoon Adaptation

I'm the Grim Reaper

The Wattpad/Webtoons and Grave Weaver-created series “I’m the Grim Reaper” is nearing its 200th episode, and it’s also getting a new TV series adaptation with talented names behind it. Deadline reports that celebrated filmmaker Sam Raimi is teaming up with 10 Cloverfield Lane scribes Josh Campbell & Matt Stuecken on the new series.

The series follows “Scarlet, a young woman who wakes up in the ninth circle of hell with no idea how she got there. Satan offers to send Scarlet back to Earth if she’ll work as his reaper. But it doesn’t take long for Scarlet to realize that Satan’s offer is even worse than she feared.”

The story is said to fit perfectly into “Raimi’s wheelhouse, striking a deft balance between scares, gore and humor.”

Sam Raimi and Zainab Azizi will executive produce the series with Weaver, who’ll also team on the development process. Raimi may be most known for his Spider-Man and Evil Dead movies, but the filmmaker has been busy behind the scenes producing. More recently, Raimi produced this week’s action brawler Boy Kills World and last year’s 65, with Don’t Move on the way.

The “I’m the Grim Reaper” webtoon launched in 2019, delving into the humor and horrors of reaping souls in Hell. That it’s on the cusp of airing its 200th episode means no shortage of story and mythology for Campbell and Stuecken to pull from.

Stay tuned for additional details on this new series as they arrive.
